Miss Jamaica Earth 2005 - Daisi “Jo” Pollard Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser
Almost a month before Daisi departure to the Philippines to compete at Miss Earth 2005, Hurricane Katrina, one of the most deadliest and destructive hurricanes in history kill over a thousand people, destroyed homes, communities and business and displaced an immeasurable amount of people.
Daisi immediately thought of a way she could use her Miss Earth platform for an extremely good cause. Daisi along with several of her friends organized a Bikini Car Wash to raise money on behalf of the Red Cross. The event was such a smash that
Daisi raised several hundred dollars from the days event. The Hurricane Katrina Bikini Car Wash was sponsored by Just Tires, Auto Zone and the 99 cent Only Store.
